Today I will tell you how I treat Lichen Sclerosis with homeopathy.
Read this article completely because at the end I will discuss some home remedies which will help you get relief.
What is Lichen Sclerosis?
Lichen Sclerosis also known as LS. LS is an autoimmune disorder.
In vulvar LS inflammatory lesions develop on the mucous membranes of the vulva.
It generally affects the inner labia, clitoris, and perianal area.
Sometimes with vulvar LS skin lesions in other areas of the body also develop.
It is very important to treat LS because the progression can lead to loss of vulvar architecture, fusing of the labia and cancer.
According to my practice, emotional stress is one of the major triggers of LS.
Among other causes are lots of allopathic medicines, heavy metals, chemical substances, viral infections, physical and emotional trauma and so on
These all disturb the immune system of the body.
Before we discuss homeopathy let us see what allopathy has to offer in cases of vulvar LS
- Antihistamines – they are antiallergic medicine
- Numbing creams – these numb the mucous tissue so that pain isn’t felt
- Oral & topical corticosteroids – these help to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune response
All these medicines provide temporary relief and if stopped LS comes back. Gradually, these medicines also stop working.
The saddest thing is that these have many severe side effects. What is your experience with allopathy? Comment down below.
Homeopathic treatment of Lichen sclerosis
In vulvar LS homeopathic medicines correct the disturbance of the immune system which helps in reducing the symptoms and healing the lesions.
As soon as our medicines start working it is possible to gradually taper off the corticosteroids and finally stop them completely. This needs to be done in accordance with your doctor’s advice.
This whole process takes time so patients should keep patience and cooperate with the homeopath because LS is a chronic disease.
How much time it takes depends on many factors:
- Amount of steroids used
- Duration of steroid use
- Severity of ls lesions
- Duration of disease
Why homeopathy?
- The success rate of homeopathy is around 80% in LS (chronic disease).
2. Homeopathy corrects the altered immune system so results are long-lasting.
3. Our medicines are harmless, safe, and non-toxic. They don’t have any side effects.
4. Homeopathy also cures the emotional stress and antidotes the toxic effects thus reducing the chances of a relapse.
5. White patches, itching, burning, swelling, tearing and pain all these symptoms get better with homeopathy.
There are many remedies in homeopathy for LS that are very effective.
Now which of these remedies are to be given, in which potency, how many times a day – this is a complicated process which only a highly qualified and experienced practitioner can do.
A sensible practitioner never prescribes on the name of the disease LS. He takes a complete history of the patient, then studies his symptoms properly.
After that, he selects the medicines keeping in mind the susceptibility of the patient and decides upon the potency and repetition of medicines.

In LS I prescribe for one month then review the patient after that.
Every month the case is studied again thereby fine-tuning the medicine and their potencies.
Nothing is fixed in homeopathic treatment and remedies change according to the condition of the patient.
Homeopathy is not ready-made it’s tailor-made.
How much improvement you get depends on the choice of therapist – so know your practitioner.
In this article, I haven’t named any medicines because attempting to treat chronic disease by yourself with homeopathy might be harmful. It’s a potent medicine which belongs into the hand of qualified practitioners.
Now I will name some home remedies which will help in curing LS
- Warm or cold
While most people will find the cooling properties of cold water or chilled compress soothing, others may get more relief from warmth. Try both and see which one works better for you.
2. Borax soaks
Many people do experience immediate relief from borax soaks. Use a ¼ cup in a bathtub or a teaspoon in a sitz bath and soak for 20 mins once to twice daily.
3. Coconut oil
Good quality extra virgin coconut oil has been a source of comfort to many sufferers of lichen sclerosus. It can provide soothing relief from the itching and burning you experience.
4. Castor oil
Castor oil might be the better option, especially where nerve pain is involved. This can present as stitching, burning, tingling or stabbing pains.
