There’s a plethora of ‘new’ poorly medically understood conditions which modern western medicine offers no solution for or it resorts to ever more risky treatments with even less understood long term effects.
These diseases need a whole different approach. The ‘swallow’ the pill and carry on as usual won’t work here. Ever more people are turning to various alternative modalities, many taking matters into their own hands, educating themselves and searching for what will work for them. It is a great mistake though to assume that what has worked for one will work for everyone else with the same diagnosis.
Diagnosis, in modern medical terms, is simply giving a name to a symptom or a host of symptoms. It tells us nothing about their aetiology, their cause or treatment. These are all individual and need to be offered an individual solution, taking into account every nuance and characteristic of the person who is ill.
From this perspective, illness is not seen as something to be simply fixed or get rid of, it’s a sign post that our life journey and relationship to self needs to change. The life style we lead wasn’t conducive to good health and it brought us to where we are. Disease is about learning where we want to be, what we need, what our body needs.
Where we
are at as a civilization is no longer sustainable at any level. Our bodies and
minds can no longer keep adjusting to the ever expanding demands for growth and
productivity, to the ever increasing load of toxicity and artificiality. They
are asking us to slow way down and come back to center, to listen deeply, to
dance to the beat of our own drum and to recover our own song, our own integral
rules to live by.
This comes with responsibility and need of courage to make sometimes hard
decisions. This means the end of false certainties and instead learning to
dance with the many unknowns, lead only by the truth in our hearts.
We can no longer rely on any external authorities to give us the answers. Look where that has led us! Most importantly we have to learn to ask our own questions. What is really important to us? How do we really want to live? What do we need? And what are just conditioned wants that never truly satisfy? Who are we outside of society’s definitions? And who do we want to be regardless?
Once you’ve pondered those questions, not as a mental exercise but as an embodied inquiry, then you can begin recovering your true self, your self-respect and thence stemming healthy boundaries. What belongs to your life and what doesn’t, and how much of it.
Over the past ten years my Soul has lead into a profound inquiry of these matters through severe health challenges, loss, and also courage and self-empowerment, the reclamation of trust in my own knowing. I now see it all as journey to reclaim what is most precious in life – my wholeness and sovereignty.
I am a certified homeopath and spiritual mentor for women suffering from mysterious and little understood conditions who desire to live a life of meaning and connection with their Soul.
