I was just having a shower and had this realisation.
I think this disease manifestation, however horrid it is, has a silver lining and actually has the potential to bring a lot of long burried societal skelettons to the light to be healed. Not only for inviduals but also for whole groups of people.
One of the things that keeps me so inspired about the LS community is that it’s one of the few places you can openly speak about vulvas and sex LOL.
I mean, where else on the internet can you do that?

And yet, this being such a taboo in society, keeps a vital part of our lives locked up, therefore preventing our authentic expression and creating issues not only in our relationships but in our whole lives. That is what happens when you must habbitually hide.
When women come together
I believe an unexpected side effect of women comming together in community and talking about such things, is creating invisible ripples, giving us an opportunity to stretch our voices, to see that we are all in the same boat together, that we are asking the same questions about ourselves, and that we are not that different and we are very good at supporting each other, empowering each other to fight for ourselves, our needs and our truth.
The role of shame
It breaks my heart every time I see a woman in a support group apologising for giving ‘too much information’ or being embarrassed to ask a question. Yet I often find myself with that too, even though I know damn well that it’s not necessary and not very healthy. Yet shame is such a powerful prisoner, whether we know we have it or not.
So, here’s to healing ourselves from the deepest shame which cannot be done outside of the support of community! Here’s to community of women!
I strongly believe that healing shame plays a huge role in healing our bodies, too.
